ECO: Treatment, Not Suppression of Care.
When employers contract with HMO and risk sharing vendors, they
pay a monthly premium to cover each employee's MN/SA treatment. At first, opting for this
fixed expenditure for treatment costs may seem like a wise financial decision. However,
the at-risk vendor is authorizing treatment and, therefore, has a financial incentive to
restrict care to your participants at a time when it may be critical. The fewer dollars
that are paid out for the delivery of care, the more profit the vendor retains.
With Interface's ECO, your MN/SA plan is owned by you and simply
managed by Interface. You fund a set amount per employee per month for all administration
costs and pay claims approved and discounted by Interface within the plan design.
Re-insurance can be provided to cover any excess claims up to the maximum of the policy.
Should the actual cost of claims not exceed the funded amount for the
year, those remaining dollars are the property of the employer. This arrangement creates
an ideal situation for you and your participants.
The total funding amount for the plan year under the ECO is determined
by the following:
- Projected claims
- Administrative costs
- Number of persons covered
- Plan design
- Plan year
